In Vietnamese culture, the Bodhi leaf is the most sacred symbol that stands for peace, good fortune, happiness & calm mind. The heart shape of the leaf is such a beautiful and unique form for huge artistic creativity.
We are a group of handicrafts-men who are the very first people to work on Bodhi leaf art in Danang city. We know, the leaves will fall and return to the soil, but if we keep the leaves and create artistic products, the value of the leaves will be preserved forever. Our job is to help the leaves speak the voice of nature and the human mind with the most unique art products and, moreover, extremely environment- friendly.
The green leaves are picked from the tree, soaked in water for over one month, then the leaf tissue rots away leaving the skeleton behind. The leaf skeletons are gently scrubbed with a small brush by the artisan, dried, and then colored for any purpose. The selection of the remaining Bodhi leaf bones is very important and must be carried out meticulously.
Each artwork can be made from one to dozens or even hundreds of leaves. The artist can arrange leaves in the shape of a flower, a peacock tail, a carp, the sun… because creativity is unlimited.
